I'm going to just say what many people are thinking and a few sadists have eagerly alluded to in my Facebook comments - that could have been me.
But, this isn't about me - it's about good versus evil.
So let's talk about how he's still being attacked after death - because that's important too.
Because he wasn't me. He's never shot a guy. He didn't have a history of authority issues, he didn't have a YouTube channel where he posted videos of him annoying politicians and cops. He wasn't loudly queer. He wasn't instigative, he didn't have pending misdemeanors or multiple dismissed felonys to be used against him in the public narrative.
He was an employed, (presumably) straight dude with no criminal record. He was a great guy AND conformed to their capitalism driven values. He didn't reach for his gun even when being assaulted by a half dozen goons. He probably respected cops in general.
This was a law abiding veteran supporting ICU nurse, who in his last moments tried to help a woman. He lived to serve veterans and died standing up to tyrants.
This is like, conceptually the best American - Republicans with their love of the second amendment and so-called family values should be incredibly proud of him.
Instead they're trying as hard as they can to demonize him. I'm all too familiar with this. It's easier to deflect than reflect.
They're attacking the victim because the alternative is that they're wrong and have to do things differently. They can't do that because that requires working through discomfort and unlearning, which they've literally never done - they lack the empathy to care, and the capacity to change. So they believe the easiest thing for them to accept without reflecting - that he was a bad guy, who deserved to be killed.
You're noticing how ridiculous they're being now, because he's a white guy you relate to - but they do this every time with every victim.
Now that you are aware of the pattern of behavior, pay attention to how they do so much harder with other demographics, every single time.
They don't bring facts, common sense, or the law to the conversation - they certainly don't debate - they simply justify maintaining their existing beliefs because their priority in every single situation is their own comfort.
Alex Pretti is good. Our government is evil.
People who support the death of others for their own comfort are also evil.
